Topcon is pleased to announce our 3Di-GPS indicate control systems for scrapers, bulldozers, blades, and graders. With 3Di-GPS, customers can now experience the productivity of Topcon GPS machine control with a much lower initial investment. When you are ready to upgrade, just add hydraulic controls and software options to transform you dozer, blade, grader or scraper indicate-only system into fully automatic 3D-GPS system running with the power of GLONASS!

Getting started with 3Di-GPS is easy. The 3Di-GPS base station can be set up daily on a tripod over a known point, or set up on a permanent point such as the top of a jobsite trailer or telephone pole. It remains in the same location for the duration of the job, unlike lasers that have to be repositioned as the job progresses. Because it never needs to be moved from its initial location, the errors associated with base station setup are minimized. The base station is always available to send precision position corrections to the machine with 3Di-GPS. And, outfitting the machine with its appropriate components is easy.

Satellites send positioning data to the GPS antenna/receiver combination at the base station and to the GPS antenna/receiver combination on the machine. The base station is set over a stationary point so it can very accurately calculate its position. The receiver on the moving machine is able to determine an approximate position. To grade to tighter tolerances, the base station sends position corrections to the machine via a radio. These corrections help the machine determine its exact location on the site. At the machine, the data is processed by Topcon's 3D-GPS Software to accurately provide the System Five 3D control box the real-time position of the machine in three dimensions. This positioning data is updated ten times per second and, with the engineers' digital site plans, controls the blade of the machine for elevation and slope automatically!
