Topcon Total Stations
New total stations, software affordable, fast, accurate, easy to use
LIVERMORE, CA, February 16, 2007 –Topcon Positioning Systems (TPS) introduces new total stations and software designed to fill an important niche in the construction market.
”Construction layout made simple and affordable,” is how Jamie Williamson, TPS senior vice president, described TPS’ new instruments and software. “These instruments and the software packages will bring accurate, precision optical control and the ease of contractor-friendly software at an affordable price for all construction companies,” he said.
With Topcon Pocket Layout software and the company’s new Green Label total stations, Topcon paired up “specific construction layout software and an inexpensive total station,” he said. “All the features needed for construction layout are now available in the simple, accurate, easy-to-use products and software. Being able to perform construction layout allows contractors to improve scheduling, increase productivity and obtain maximum accuracy at every phase of every job.”
The foundation of this layout advancement, Williamson said, is Topcon’s Pocket Layout software, which is “to building contractors what Pocket 3D is to earthmovers. It’s a one-of-a-kind layout software that makes sense to contractors.”
The initial Topcon Green Label products are the GTS-100N total station series. The “high-quality, low cost” products are designed to meet all customer requirements on any job site. The software and instruments “will provide exemplary performance results in the construction market,” he said.
Two models are currently available, the GTS-102N and the GTS-105N, featuring 2- or 5-arc second accuracy respectively.
For many contractors, basic layout has been left to outside resources. “Precision construction layout does not have to be a mystery and the job can be handled in-house,” Williamson said. With these new software and products, “laying out even the most complex job can be handled quickly and easily by using existing resources.”
